EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Wednesday, May 25, 2016
8:00 a.m.
Youth & Ag Building Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Roger Guthrie. Present, in addition to Roger
was Bob Keeney, Dan Timmerman, Grant Loy, John Patcle, Mark Stead, Ted Bay and Amy
Olson.
The meeting notice was posted in the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center and media by Amy Olson.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Discussion was held with UW-Extension Crops and Farm Management Agent Ted Bay on a
position with Winrock International. Ted was offered a position with them to work on
conservation and soil erosion in the Kickapoo area. After further discussion the board approved
endorsing Ted's interest in employment with Winrock International. Upon Ted's retirement the
new Crops and Farm Management Agent will not be under this contract to work for Winrock
International.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dan Timmerman to approve the partnership with Winrock
hnternational and UW-Extension until Ted's retirement at 20% of his time with 20%
compensation coming back to Grant County. Motion carried.
Discussion on purchasing three new sets of bleachers for the fairgrounds. Amy received a grant
from the Dubuque Racing Association in the amount of $10,000. This money will go toward the
purchase of these bleachers. The remaining balance will be paid for by the profits from the fair.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Dan Timmerman to approve the purchase of the three sets of
bleachers from Miller & Associates with the remaining balance to be paid for out of the fair
budget. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dan Timmerman to adjourn. Motion carried.
