EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Friday, September 2, 2016
9:00 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Roger Guthrie. Present, in addition to Guthrie
were John Patcle, Mark Stead, Grant Loy, Mike Lieurance, Bob Keeney, Bev Doll, Ted Bay, Amy
Olson, Lori Vesperman Kory Stalsberg, Donna Peterson, Charisse Orth and Nancy Scott. Dan
Timmerman was excused.
The meeting notice was posted at the UW-Extension Office, Youth & Agriculture Center and mailed to
media and Administration Building by Jenny Dixon and posted on the website by the Grant County
Clerkâs Office.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by John Patcle, to approve the amended agenda. Motion carried.
Bev Doll presented Grant County UW-Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Mike Lieurance, to move forward with the CRD position. Motion
carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to accept the amendment to extend the Grant County
Interim 4-H Youth Development Educator position. Motion carried.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the updated UW-Extension budget to send on
for approval. Motion carried.
Bob Keeney shared information on placing a digital sign, along with security cameras, in the WisDOT
safety rest area facility. Grant County Economic Development will pay for half of the cost. Grant County
would pay half of the cost, $2,400. This amount could come from committee per diem savings in the
Resource budget.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Mark Stead, to move forward with placing a digital sign in the
WisDOT safety rest area facility (rest area 106), taking the amount of $2,400 from committee per diem
savings in the Resource budget. Motion carried.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Discussion was held on the 2016 Fair.
Amy shared the carnival contract.
Motion by Mike Lieurance, seconded by Grant Loy to pay the livestock claim in the amount of $509.00
and send on to the full county board. One no vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle, to adjourn. Motion carried.
The next scheduled meeting is September 19, 2016. The October meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on
October 17 with the joint meeting between Lafayette County and Grant County at 1:00 p.m. at the UW-
Platteville Pioneer Farm.
