EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, April 18, 2016
9:00 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman John Patcle. Present, in addition to Patcle were
Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, Roger Guthrie, Mark Stead, Dan Timmerman, Bob Keeney, Bev Doll, Amy
Olson, Lori Vesperman, Ted Bay, Kory Stalsberg, Charisse Orth and Jeremy Reuter.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag Center
and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the amended agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Dan Timmerman, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
March 21, 2016. Motion carried.
Bev Doll presented Grant County UW-Extension and Youth & Ag Center business. Ted Bay and
Charisse Orth gave agent reports. Reports for Bev Doll, Kory Stalsberg and Shannon Brown were
handed out to the committee.
Bev gave an update on the nEXT Generation.
The Community Resource Development Agent position is vacant. Shannon Brown's last day was
Friday, April 15.
Motion by Dan Timmerman, seconded by Pat Schroeder to approve UW-Extension vouchers. Motion
carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance and Youth & Ag Center report.
Maintenance staff looked at areas on the Fairgrounds to determine where to blacktop. Amy will get bids.
A new sink is needed in the maintenance office.
The hydrant closest to the grandstand is leaking.
The fuel tank passed inspection.
The Fairgrounds will be a starting point for an ATV route.
Doors on the Livestock Facility will be completed today.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Dan Timmerman, to approve grounds and maintenance vouchers.
Motion carried.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Events for the 2016 Fair were discussed.
Pat Schroeder will still provide cattle and straw and also help at the 2016 Fair.
The Fairbook is ready to go to the IT department.
It was suggested that signage in the dairy barn should distinguish between open and junior class exhibits.
A contract was signed with the Dairyland Antique Tractor Pullers.
The Lancaster Wrestling Club will be added to the list of organizations helping in the beer stand at the
fair.
Big Gains will sponsor signage on swine barn.
Badgerland sponsorship for the fair will be toward champion and reserve livestock banners.
Amy checked into getting an ATM on the grounds during fair time. There would be no charge for two
ATMs in a trailer. The Fair would get 20% of profits and pay 1/2 of the surcharge.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Roger Guthrie, to enter into agreement with Handycash ATM for
ATMs for the 2016 Fair. Motion carried.
A title change for the Fair Manager was discussed.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Mark Stead, to change the Fair Manger title to Grant County
Fairgrounds Operations Director. Motion carried.
The Grant County Fairgrounds severe weather plan will be updated.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dan Timmerman, to approve Fair and Fairgrounds vouchers.
Motion carried.
Livestock claims were discussed.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy to update policies and procedures for disbursement of
dog license funds. Motion carried.
Jeremy Reuter was present to discuss the local tractor and truck pull.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dan Timmerman, to adjourn. Motion carried.
