HomeMy WebLinkAbout08 Minutes August 3 2017 - Fair vets etcThursday, August 3, 2017 7:00pm Present, Roger Guthrie, Bob Keeney, Dan Timmerman, John Patcle, Grant Loy, Mark Stead, Amy Olson, Charisse Orth, Brian Heinrichs, Brenda Schnieder, and members of the organization that will be helping with operations of the fair. Meeting notice was posted in the Fair & Extension lobbies and at the County Administration building and sent to media and paper. Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Grant Loy to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Discussion was held with food and beer organizations that were present regarding the nights each organizations was working, the times, how many workers are needed. Dan along with help from Steve Adrian and Pat Schroeder will be in charge of the food under the grandstand. Steve Adrian and Pat Schroeder will also help at the beer stand as well and around the fairgrounds all weekend. Amy asked if the food organizations could have one person from each organization to help Tuesday night serve food out of the crow’s nest. They agreed and will be there at 5:30pm Discussed having some of the younger kids help Sunday in the grandstand with selling water. Dr. Tom Hermsen (Grant County Veterinaries) was not present for the meeting. Jack Johnson representing the Sherriff Department was not present. Jack did stop in and talk to the board at their last meeting and everything should remain the same as previous years. Deb Reukauf (City of Lancaster) was not present for the meeting but Justin McClimans was there for her. Justin informed us that everything should remain the same as previous years. Paul Budden representing the American Legion for admission tickets was present. Discussion on the man hours they put into the fair. Also, discussed what organizations get in for free while working at the fair and that vendors do not, as they have tickets when they purchase their space. Amy will get a list of all organizations and vendors for each gate. Friday is senior citizen day and Sunday is military and vets day. Gate people are to use their own discretion and take their word for it if they don’t have proper identification to say they are a senior or military. There is a home football game Friday night. The gate to the school parking lot will be closed at 2pm. The office will announce prior to closure and a sign will be posted that day on the gate. Amy will get a gator for Paul. Representative from the Jaycees, Kathleen Berhardt was present. Kathleen informed us there will not be any changes to the prices this year or menu. Larry Jerrett, representing Farm Bureau, was present. They will have the same menu as last year. Their prices will remain the same. Pat Klug, representing the Sales Pavilion, was present. They will have the same menu as last year with changing their pop from cans to bottles. They need 4 parking signs next to the pavilion. Discussion was held on out of order signs on equipment in the kitchen. Steve Braun discussed the fire departments part of the fair. He plans to be on the grounds again this year and having EMT’s helping him. He will also have the large spot light available. Missing child plan along with severe weather plan was put in superintendent packets. Jaci Edge with the Lancaster Ambulance Service was present. They will cover Wednesday and both events on Sunday. Amy and Jaci have made contact with area EMS services and are having no response for our request to help during the rest of fair. Jaci asked if it was okay if we reach out and ask for just EMT’s and not their ambulance as some communities only have the one ambulance. She would use Steve Braun’s cart for those nights and Lancaster would be on call for any emergencies. Randy Peterson, Tricor Insurance said that would be okay. Randy Peterson from Tricor Insurance was present to look over insurance forms for fair. We will also set up a time for the walk around prior to fair.
