EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, September 17, 2018
9:00 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Roger Guthrie. Present, in addition to
Guthrie were, Mark Stead, Mike Lieurance, Gary Northouse, Bob Keeney, Amy Olson, Paul
Ohlrogge, Lori Vesperman, James Schneider, Bev Doll, Amanda Cauffman, Donna Peterson and
Shane Drinkwater. John Patcle was excused.
The meeting notice was posted at the UW-Extension Office, Youth & Agriculture Center and
mailed to media and Administration Building by Lori Vesperman and posted on the website by
the Grant County Clerkâs Office.
Motion by Mike Lieurance, seconded by Gary Northouse, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Gary Northouse, to approve minutes of the meeting held
August 29, 2018. Motion carried.
Grant County UW-Extension and Youth & Agriculture Center business was presented.
Agent reports were given by Donna Peterson, James Schneider, Amanda Cauffman, and Bev
Doll.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Mike Lieurance, to submit the DNR County Conservation
Aids Resolution for 2019 to the County Board for approval. Motion carried.
Paul Ohlrogge gave the Area Extension Director Update. The Agriculture Educator position in
Lafayette County was reposted on September 14. Discussion was held on the Grant County
Community Development draft position description.
Motion by Mike Lieurance, seconded by Mark Stead, to approve UW-Extension vouchers.
Motion carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance and Youth & Agriculture Center report.
Maintenance staff is doing cleanup work from fair. Discussion was held on water runoff from the
swine barn area after rain. Amy will get estimates on replacing two poles on the fairgrounds.
Camper storage space in the Livestock Facility is full. Camper storage in the swine barn could be
an option.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Discussion was held on the carnivals and events for future fairs.
The District Fair Meeting is October 3 in Elroy.
The WAF Convention is January 6-10, 2019, at the Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells.
Motion by Mike Lieurance, seconded by Gary Northouse, to approve fairground vouchers.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Gary Northouse, to adjourn. Motion carried.
The next regular scheduled meeting will be Monday, October 15, at 9:00 a.m.
