HomeMy WebLinkAboutAg & Ext 08 Minutes August 1 2019 - FairThursday, August 1, 2019 6:30pm Present, Roger Guthrie, Bob Keeney, Gary Northouse, Mark Stead, Amy Olson, Charisse Orth, Amanda Patterson, Brian Heinrichs, Brenda Schneider, and members of the organization and superintendent that will be helping with operations of the fair. Meeting notice was posted in the Fair & Extension lobbies and at the County Administration building and sent to media and paper. Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Gary Northouse to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Superintendents were given their fair packets. Discussion was held on the set up in the barn due to the increase in livestock. Those departments will be setting up Monday, August 12th. We also have an increase/decrease in exhibits in departments in the Youth & Ag Building. Superintendents were informed that the Youth & Ag Building will be set up by August 8th and were asked to please come up on the 9th or 12th and see how much space you need for their department. We may have to move department space around a little to accommodate the extra entries. Went over the grandstand line up with the superintendents and the fact that there will be fireworks on Thursday, August 15th. A reminder to the superintendents to try and print on the comment cards as this has been requested by those in the community for kids that cannot read in cursive. Also a reminder to please not cover up the names when using sticker ribbons. 7:00pm Discussion was held with food and beer organizations that were present. Steve Adrian and Pat Schroeder will be in charge of the food under the grandstand as well as the beer. Prices will stay the same as last year with adding pizza to our menu. Gary Northouse offered to pick up the pizzas from New Horizons each day. Amy will have a schedule made up for the foodstand, Gary, and New Horizons. We are to call before 4pm if we need more pizza made for the evening events. Dr. Tom Hermsen (Grant County Veterinaries) was not present for the meeting. Amy talked to Angie and the schedule is set. Jack Johnson, Steve Braun, and Jaci Edge were not present but Amy has talked to all of them and everything will remain the same as previous years. Amy did inform the board that we still need EMTs on Friday and Saturday night. Amy will be talking to Jaci again on Monday and will be sending out another email to local communities to see if we can get some help for those nights. Justin McLimans (City of Lancaster) was present for the meeting informing us that everything should remain the same as previous years. Paul Budden representing the American Legion for admission tickets was present. Amy will have a list of organizations that get in for free while working at the fair. Paul will be in charge this year. There will be a football game on Friday night, August 16th so we will have to close the gates to the school parking lot early. Becky Caley from the Jaycees was present. She informed us there will not be any changes to the prices this year or menu. Peter Winch, representing Farm Bureau, was present. They will have the same menu as last year. Their prices will remain the same. A representative from the Livestock Trust Sales Pavilion was present. They will have the same menu as last year. Brenda asked if they could please wait and not set up the front part of their serving line until the dog show is over on Tuesday night. Randy Peterson from Tricor Insurance was not present to look over insurance forms for fair. Amy will contact Randy and set up a time next week to go over the contracts and schedule the walk around prior to fair. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle to adjourn. Motion carried.
