EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING

8:30 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Pat Schroeder. Present in addition to
Schroeder were Roger Guthrie, Mark Stead, Mike Lieurance, Gary Northouse, Bob Keeney,
Amy Olson, Lori Vesperman, Charisse Orth, Amanda Cauffman, Jack Johnson, Deb Reukauf,
Steve Braun, Vince Heiman, Tom Gerlach and Joe Frommlet. John Patcle was excused from the
meeting.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office and Youth &
Agriculture Center and media by Amy Olson.
Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Mike Lieurance, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
The carnival report was given by Vince Heiman.
Jack Johnson, Deb Reukauf and Steve Braun gave their reports.
Tom Gerlach, Swine Superintendent, reported that junior exhibitor, Joe Frommlet, did not
exhibit his pig during the swine show, that he consigned to sell in the Grant County Junior Fair
Livestock Auction. According to Fair rules “Youth need to drive their own livestock. Nobody
can go in the show ring and lead or hold the animal for them.” Discussion was held on whether
to allow Joe to sell. He did not ask for permission to allow anyone else to exhibit his pig, and the
person who did exhibit it was too old to show at the fair. Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by
Gary Northouse, not to allow Joe to sell a swine at this year’s sale due to not following required
rules. Motion carried.
Recessed until 8:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021.
