EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
May 3, 2022

The meeting was held in the South Room of the Youth & Agriculture Center. The meeting was
called to order by Chairman, Pat Schroeder. Present were Chairman Pat Schroeder, Gary
Northouse, Roger Guthrie, Joe Mumm, Porter Wagner, Kathy Kopp, and Amy Olson.
The meeting notice was posted at the Youth & Agriculture Center, Administrations Building, on
the Grant County website and emailed to media.
Motion by Porter Wagner, seconded by Joe Mumm, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
The Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) is offering grants this year based on tourism, people
attractions, population growth, and retention. Discussion was held in regards to applying for the
DRA mission or core grant to obtain money to construct a pavilion on the fairgrounds. The
pavilion would be built between the Eckstein Building and the Jaycees Building.
Motion by Gary Northouse, seconded by Porter Wagner to allow Amy to apply for the DRA
mission grant which is due July 15, 2022. Motion carried.
Amy will work with board members and call K&D Engineering to get an estimate on the pavilion
in order to write the grant. If the DRA Association approves our grant on July 15 there will be a
second phase by invitation only for a more in-depth application on Monday, August 1. The
second phase application will be due Friday, August 12, where they will later choose the finalist.
Finalist must be available at a later date to do a presentation to the DRA Mission Grant
Committee.
Motion by Kathy Kopp, seconded by Joe Mumm to adjourn.
Respectfully submitted,
Amy Olson, CFE
Grant County Fairgrounds & Operations Director
