HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING
June 9, 2022
The Highway Committee met on Thursday June 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in the County Board
Room of the Administration Building in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Roll call was taken. Members
present: Roger Guthrie, Diane Nelson, Gary Northouse, and Donald Splinter. Others in
attendance were Jon Knautz, Bob Keeney, Travis Kramer, Dan McLimans, Steve Morgan,
Mike Bartels, Sue Mumm, Shane Drinkwater, and Amanda Degenhardt.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted
at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site.
Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie, moved to approve the agenda. Motion carried
without a negative vote.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Gary Northouse, made a motion to approve the May 12, 2022
Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Gary Northouse, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to approve the May Accounts Payable
report as reviewed. Motion carried without a negative vote.
The April Requisition was sent to the State.
The Highway Accounting Assistant position was discussed, we will be sharing this position
with the Finance Dept. for a trial period. If it doesn’t work out, a new person will be hired.
Donna Bohnenkamp was in an accident and will be off for several weeks, Sue Mumm will
be filling in.
State crews have been working on crack filling, spraying flexbeam, accident repairs to
guardrail, DMA for bridge rip rap, and TMA sign replacement.
County crews have been working on CTH “O” coring, crack filling, and preparing CTH C, V,
VV for seal coating.
The Highway shop is busy getting the equipment ready for mowing and day to day
breakdowns. Mike also updated the committee on the sale of the D6T dozer. Mike has
ordered 2 trailers and a bushhog mower. The 2 trucks on order are currently scheduled for
July & September delivery to the outfitter, Burke Equipment.
All open positions in the Hwy Dept have been filled.
Meeting date was discussed and no action was taken to move the meeting date.
Diane Nelson, seconded by Gary Northouse moved to adjourn to July 14, 2022, at 9:00
a.m. Motion carried without a negative vote.
