EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Youth & Ag Center, South Room and by Zoom
Lancaster, WI
Tuesday
August 9, 2022
4:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Pat Schroeder. Present in person were
Chairman Schroeder Joe Mumm, Bob Keeney, Amy Olson, Lori Vesperman, Amanda Cauffman
and Jenny Dixon. Present by Zoom were Roger Guthrie, Gary Northouse, Kathy Kopp, Porter
Wagner, Charisse Orth and Craig Bierman.
The meeting notice was posted at the Extension Office, Youth & Agriculture Center,
Administration Building, on the Grant County website and emailed to media.
Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Gary Northouse, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on a swine exhibitor who did not identify their own pigs, but did identify
two others that did not belong to a family member. It was decided to follow required steps for
identification, information that the exhibitor received, and not allow the exhibitor to bring those
pigs to the fair. The committee suggested to ask the exhibitor who owned the identified pigs to
allow this exhibitor bring one pig to the fair and the owner to bring the other, thus allowing both
exhibitors to have a pig to sell in the livestock auction.
Discussion was held on an exhibitor who asked to bring a beef to the fair that was identified by
someone who was not a family member. They didn’t feel they should bring the beef they
identified themselves due to safe handling issues. It was decided by the committee to follow
required steps for identification and not allow the exhibitor to bring the beef to the fair that was
not identified by their own family.
Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Porter Wagner to adjourn.
