Meeting notice was posted in the Fair & Extension lobbies and at the County Administration building and sent to media. Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Discussion was held with food and beer organizations that were present. Nothing has majorly changed for any of them including prices. The fair’s food stand will increase prices this year. There is also an adjustment of the times on Sunday being we only have one event in the grandstand instead of two. We will have ATV’s available for the beer organizations to use on night we sell beer in the pits. They will need to have a pouch with startup cash and wristbands for drinking age verification. Suggestion was to have coolers by the crows nest labeled what beer is inside for Thursday night event. Discussed with Travis Klaas, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, about changing the vet check in route on Wednesday and Thursday along with leaving on Sunday. After further discussion, it was agreed to leave Wednesday’s check in route the same but change Thursday’s check in route. Thursday, we will have them come in the pit entrance to avoid trucks/trailers on the main road and have the vet check in near the back pit. Deb Reukauf, Lancaster Chief of Police stated nothing has changed for them. They have plenty of officers to cover that week. Amy told Travis and Deb that we are loading out pigs on Monday so there will be animals here Sunday night. Deb said she would have officers do a drive by frequently that evening. Steve Braun, Emergency Management Director, stated Lancaster Fire Department will be here all week and he has reached out to neighboring communities for assistance as well. Amy corresponded with Jeff Boughton and the Lancaster EMS will cover the events during fair week. Jaycees added pretzel bits and Gatorade to their menu and opening on Wednesday night. Farm Bureau stand is keeping their prices the same with their meal at $10. The livestock trust is keeping their prices the same and opening up Tuesday night for the dog show. Jill also suggested that we move the pedal pull tractor to the pavilion on Thursday. Recess to superintendents meeting 7:00pm Superintendents were given their fair packets. Amy explained that judge’s affidavits will again be in the office so when judges come to check in they can sign that as well. There will also be an added section in the comment sheet in everyone’s department box this year to update superintendents address, phone, and emails. Amy also welcome Brenda Kluesner as the new computer office clerk that will be doing reports and judges sheets. Amy asked that superintendent please be patient during the transition of a new clerical staff. Cows were down this year from 31 to 16 and entries have increased in certain areas that required Amy to purchase more ribbons. They should come in on time but if not there was larger ribbons to use. We will use the larger ribbons on Sunday and Monday’s judging and livestock this year. Lengthy discussion was held on loading out swine on Monday. Charisse and Amy will work on a letter to send to all swine families. Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg to adjourn. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted Amy Olson, CFE Grant County Fairgrounds Operations Director
