FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, October 21, 2024
9:00 a.m.
The October meeting was held in the Extension Office Conference Room at the Youth &
Agriculture Center and by Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Roger Guthrie.
Present in person were Chairman Guthrie, Joe Mumm, Gary Northouse, Mark Vosberg, Bob
Keeney, Amy Olson, Lori Vesperman, Bev Doll, James Schneider, Charisse Orth, Jackie
McCarville, Lynn Perkins and Nate Dreckman. Present by Zoom were Shane Drinkwater, Tonya
White, Maggie Milcarek and Julia Harman. Pat Schroeder and Kathy Kopp were excused.
The meeting notice was posted at the Extension Office, Youth & Agriculture Center,
Administration Building, on the Grant County website and emailed to media.
Motion by Mark Vosberg, seconded by Gary Northouse, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
September 16, 2024. Motion carried.
Educator reports were given by Bev Doll, James Schneider, Charisse Orth, Jackie McCarville
and Maggie Milcarek. Maggie introduce Julia Harman as the new FoodWIse Educator.
Lynn Perkins gave the AED update. She is working on getting the joint Green/Lafayette County
Human Development and Relationship Educator position posted.
Motion by Gary Northouse, seconded by Joe Mumm, to approve the Extension vouchers. Motion
carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance and Youth & Agriculture Center report.
Maintenance staff is working on winterizing. Vehicles for storage are still coming in. Amy is
working on getting someone to fix the water leak. Maintenance staff repaired three poles in the
dairy pole shed. The estimate to complete the repairs of the remaining poles is $9,000. Amy will
contact the Livestock Trust to discuss covering the costs. Maintenance staff will continue
repairing poles in the spring.
Fair and Fairgrounds Business.
Fair Convention is January 5-8, 2025, in Wisconsin Dells.
The 2024 Fair was recapped.
Fairbook changes and Committee Night comments were discussed. Motion by Mark Vosberg,
seconded by Joe Mumm to approve changes as discussed. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on Fair contests and competitions. It will be further discussed at the
November meeting. Amy shared the financial reports on the 2024 Fair.
District Meeting Recap. The Fair is required to submit a S240 form from all vendors including
the carnival foodstands.
Grandstand entertainment for 2025 Fair was discussed. The consensus was to keep the same
event order as 2024. Motion by Gary Northouse, seconded by Mark Vosberg, to sign the Tri-
State Truck & Tractor Pull contract for 2025 Fair for $9,200. Motion carried.
Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg, to approve the vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Gary Northouse, seconded by Joe Mumm, to accept the livestock claims in the
amount of $320 and pass on to the County Board. Motion carried.
Sponsorship letters will be sent out in November. There will be discussion at the January
Livestock Auction Committee meeting about selling dairy goat cheese at the Junior Fair
Livestock Auction similar to the dairy cheese sale. Further discussion will be held at the
February Ag & Extension/Fair Committee meeting.
Motion by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg, to adjourn until the November 18
Committee Meeting. Motion carried.
