Board Minutes
June 15, 2022
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Gary Kjos at 9:00 a.m.
Attendance: Lori Reid, Gary Kjos, Arnold Rawson, Rob Bell, Kathy Kopp, Robert Keeney, Diane Nelson,
Pat Reynolds
Others Present: Courtney Brookhart, Shane Drinkwater, Tonya White
Excused: Vicki Hirsch
Compliance with Open Meeting Law:
It was noted the meeting is in compliance with the open meeting act. (Published via website, radio,
newspaper and posted at the Grant County Administration Building and CSB).
Agenda Approval:
Bell/Kjos: Motion to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: April 20, 2022
Rawson/Bell: Motion to approve the April 20, 2022 minutes. Motion carried.
Public Comment/Communication:
Courtney – Nutrition Program: Brookhart discussed the Nutrition Program. Grant County has 8
meal sites that provide congregate (on-site) and home-delivered meals. Brookhart and Reid
explained how the program runs and how it is funded.
Advocacy Reports or Activities:
ADRC Regional Board Meeting Report – Bell & Nelson attended the May meeting; it was
business as usual.
Legislative Handout
Reid reviewed the hand out that will be sent to legislatures to capture Grant County’s services provided
in 2021.
Marketing Events – Fair, Elderfest
Reid discussed how Elderfest has been done in previous years. There is concern with having staff
available for another drive through event, as three employees will be on maternity leave in the fall. Reid
talked about the possibility of going back to an in-person event or trying resource bags at the fair. Reid
asked for feedback from the committee and ideas they may have.
Director Evaluation
Keeney explained the new process of department head evaluations.
Approval of Vouchers
Keeney asked if there has been an increase in cost of operations. Reid stated yes, which includes fuel,
food costs, paper supplies, etc.
Bell/Kopp: Motion to approve the vouchers. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Rawson/Kopp: Motion to approve financial report. Motion carried.
Reports
ADRC Grant County Director’s Report
The Farmer’s Market voucher program started June 1. I&A Specialists are visiting all of the
meal sites for distribution and they’re available at the office.
Emily Reuter, Elder Benefit Specialist, will be holding another Medicare 101 webinar in June.
Courtney attended the WAND conference in Wausau and Lori attended virtually.
The bus program is up and running consistently.
Ben Biddick was hired as a Dementia Care Specialist for the region. His home office is here in
Grant County and he will primarily be working in Grant and Lafayette County.
Personnel is working on scheduling interviews for the Office Assistant position.
