GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER

The Grant County Law Enforcement Committee was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Chairman
Bob Scallon. The following members and personnel were present:
LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE: Pat Schroeder, Vincent Loeffelholz, John Beinborn, Lester
Jantzen, John Patcle and Larry Wolf.
GUESTS: Sheriff Nate Dreckman, Chief Deputy Jack Johnson, and Kelly Bird, Recording
Secretary.
Kelly Bird verified the agenda had been posted at the County Clerk’s office and Courthouse by
Linda Gebhard. Kelly posted the agenda in the Sheriff’s Department lobby. Pat second by John
B. approved the agenda as mailed. John B. second by Vince approved the minutes from the
previous meeting. The bills were approved in motions by Pat and seconded by Lester. All
above motions carried.
There is no Public Forum.
There is no Coroner’s Report this month.
Under Sheriff’s Briefing, a fatal crash occurred in Cassville. The victim was deceased before the
accident took place due to medical reasons.
Under Training, Captain Sheckles and Jeff Anderson from the IT Department will be attending
the VisionAir Conference in September.
There are no Grants to discuss at this time.
Under New Business, Sheriff Dreckman displayed a diagram of the proposed remodel project in
the jail. The plan also has the option for an addition of 10 beds. At this point this is for
informational purposes only and should be put on the agenda next month for further
discussion.
The Tow Truck Agreement item has been resolved at this time.
The 2013 Law Enforcement Memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at the
Courthouse with a luncheon to follow. Committee members are encouraged to attend.
There will be a screening of Heroes Behind the Badge tonight at Millennium Cinema in
Platteville.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Department will be forming an Honor Guard to perform at various
functions throughout the year. Fundraising will help with the cost as well as donations.
Under Old Business, the work being done on the jail doors is going well and on schedule.
Chief Deputy Johnson received a bid from D&D Total Construction for a new generator. It was
motioned by Pat and seconded by John B. to send this item out for bids and put it on the
agenda for next month. Motion carried.
It was motioned by John B. and second by Vince to adjourn to June 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
following the Grant County Emergency/Disaster Service Committee Meeting. Motion carried.
