HomeMy WebLinkAbout04 LECminutes040824GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING GRANT COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES BUILDING Lancaster, WI 53813 April 8, 2024 The Grant County Law Enforcement/Emergency Management Disaster Services Committee Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Adam Day. The following members and personnel were present: LAW ENFORCEMENT/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Porter Wagner, John Beinborn, Brian Lucey, Joe Mumm, Gary Northouse and Bob Keeney. GUESTS: Sheriff Nate Dreckman; Chief Deputy Travis Klaas; Steve Braun, Emergency Management Director; Coroner Phyllis Fuerstenberg; Shane Drinkwater, Information Technology; Tonya White, County Clerk; The Grant County Herald Independent and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary. Kelly Bird verified the agenda had been posted at the County Clerk’s Office, Community Services Building, courthouse and on the county website. Gary Northouse second by John Beinborn approved the agenda. Bob Keeney second by Brian Lucey approved the minutes from the February 12 meeting. All above motions carried. There is no Public Forum to discuss. Coroner: Porter Wagner second by Joe Mumm made a motion to accept the Invoices and Financials for the Coroner. Motion carried. Emergency Management: Emergency Management Director Steve Braun presented the Director’s Report. The FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Applications have been submitted and were passed out to the committee members for review. Dispatch training for Code Red is in progress. It is Severe Weather Awareness Week. The Mississippi River Flooding paperwork was reprocessed and submitted. There are now funds available for reimbursement. There may be some funding available for the Highway Department Project that will hopefully take place in a couple of years and Steve offered to help with the grant writing for that. Steve will be auctioning off some equipment to make more room in the storage shed. A final copy of the lease for the storage shed has not been received. Emergency Management’s Invoices and Financials were presented. Gary Northouse second by Porter Wagner made a motion to accept the Invoices and Financials. Motion carried. Sheriff’s Briefing: The monthly activity reports were reviewed for February and March. Inmate population was at 65 this morning. There were 56 male and nine female. Eight inmates are on the Electronic Monitoring Program. There are 16 sentenced inmates, 12 waiting to be sentenced, 15 on Probation Holds, two serving their sentence in another county and one on another agency warrant. There are currently 11 contract inmates. Under the Radio Project Update, they are moving equipment to the Bloomington site with several other sites to follow. Under Personnel, there is currently one Deputy Position available. Two Jailers are currently attending the Jail Academy in Sparta and two more will be attending the one at SWTC in May. There are also two employees currently attending the Law Enforcement Academy at SWTC. The Female Jailer Position has been filled by a current Part-Time employee. There was no Training to discuss. Under Grants, Chief Deputy Klaas notified the committee of a grant that will be available for Officer Wellness with no match to the county. He will keep the committee updated. The Sheriff’s Office Invoices and Financials were presented. Gary Northouse second by Porter Wagner made a motion to accept the Invoices and Financials. Motion carried. It was motioned by Joe Mumm and seconded by Porter Wagner to adjourn to Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 10:30am.
