HomeMy WebLinkAboutEM MAY 10 2010GRANT COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER Lancaster WI 53818 May 10, 2010 The Grant County Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee was called to order April 12 at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman John Patcle. The following members and personnel were present: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Larry Wolf, Pat Schroeder, Robert Scallon, Steve Adrian, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen GUESTS: Steve Braun, Emergency Government, Sheriff Keith Govier, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Deputy Jack Jackson, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Coroner Ron Sturmer, Personnel Director Joyce Roling, Finance Director Nancy Scott and Julie Loeffelholz, Recording Secretary. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Larry, second by Vince, verified that the meeting had been posted in accordance with the open-meeting law. Lester, second by Pat to move the closed session for annual personnel evaluation to the top of the agenda and to approve the agenda. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved in a motion by Pat and second by Lester. Bills were approved in a motion by Steve and second by Larry. All above motions carried. Motion by Robert with second by Vince to go into closed session. Return to Open Session Director’s Monthly report was given by Steve Braun. FEMA fire grants period is now open and will close on May 28. They did not give much advanced notice and there is only three weeks left. We still have several grants from last year hanging out there with award numbers, but do not have the final word that they have been awarded. Steve passed out a list of grants received. To date, awarded grants that were written by our office total more than $1.5 Million in this year’s program. We have been approved by the PAACE Program at UWP to get an intern for the summer. The UW pa ys $10 per hour with no cost to the county. The intern has been selected. He is a criminal justice major who is considering a career in Emergency Management and would like to learn more about our program. New Business: None Grants: None Steve presented a funding acknowledgement from DATCP. This would involve Homeland Security money and will be used by DATCP to continue to fund programs involving planning for animal diseases. There is no cost to Grant County. Motion by Pat, Second by Vince to sign the acknowledgement. Motion carried. Carryover Fund: Steve presented to the group that there are funds in three accounts to be carried over into next year’s budget. EMPG which is the Federal program that funds our office, for approximately $40,000. LEPC which is the State program that funds our office , for approximately $11,000. And Insurance reimbursement for hail damage for approximately $12,000 which will be used for trailer maintenance and rental space for the trailers and equipment. Motion by Pat, Second by Robert to approve the carryover amounts. Motion carried There is no Public Forum at this time. It was motioned by Pat and second by Lester to adjourn until the next meeting on June 14, 2010 at 10:00 am. Motion carried.
