GRANT COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES
COMMITTEE MEETING
GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER
Lancaster WI 53818
July 12, 2010
The Grant County Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee was called to order July 12 at
10:00 a.m. by Chairman John Patcle. The following members and personnel were present:
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Larry Wolf, Pat Schroeder,
Steve Adrian, Vincent Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen and Robert Scallon
GUESTS: Steve Braun, Emergency Government, Sheriff Keith Govier, Grant County Sheriff’s
Department, and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Larry, second by Pat, verified that the meeting had been posted in accordance with the open-meeting law.
Steve, second by Lester, motioned to approve the agenda as mailed. The minutes were approved in motions
by Pat and second by Bob. All above motions carried.
The Monthly Director’s Report was given by Steve Braun. Steve introduced Matt Zimborski who is
working under the PACE Program. He will be working on Hazardous Material Plans and the Esponder Alert
Project.
Under New Business, Steve noted that although four of the five mitigation projects are progressing, the fifth
is currently at a standstill. One of the Lancaster homeowners will likely contest the appraisal that was
conducted by our appraisal service, and will likely have their own appraisal done. There is a formal process
for homeowners to appeal appraisals which will be followed.
Steve discussed the recent woodchip pile fire in Dickeyville, and resources and guidance that emergency
management provided.
Steve will give an Esponder Alert Demonstration at the end of the meeting. The Esponder Alert will allow
elected officials to be notified of emergency situations in a more timely matter. Esponder Alert will
automatically send out an email, text message and voicemail to notify people of a situation or more likely a
conference call in which they can participate. The end goal is to be able to quickly coordinate with all of the
city, town, and village officials during an emergency.
The Public Safety Expo Training Day that was scheduled at the fairgrounds was cancelled by SWTC due to
low enrollment.
There are no grants at this time.
There is no old business at this time.

It was motioned by Vince and second by Lester to adjourn until the next meeting on August 9, 2010 at 10:00
am. Motion carried.
