HomeMy WebLinkAbout20110613 EM GRANT COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER Lancaster WI 53818 June 13, 2011 The Grant County Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee was called to order June 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman John Patcle. The following members and personnel were present: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Larry Wolf, Pat Schroeder, Steve Adrian, Vincent Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen and Robert Scallon GUESTS: Steve Braun, Emergency Government, Sheriff Keith Govier, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Deputy Jack Johnson, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Grant County Coroner Ron Sturmer and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Braun verified the agenda has been posted by the County Clerk at the Administration Building and the Courthouse. The agenda was also posted on the Grant County website. Pat asked to have call-out policies to the agenda. Larry second by Lester, motioned to approve the agenda with the addition.. The minutes were approved in motions by Larry and second by Vincent. All above motions carried. There is no Public Forum. The Monthly Director’s Report was given by Steve Braun. Steve introduced Ben Reuter to the committee. Ben is an intern that is going to work with Emergency Management Office this summer through the PACCE Program at UW Platteville. Ben is also a Platteville Firefighter. Under Old Business Steve stated that there is a lot of paperwork in process for the damage done by the snow storms in February, noting that they received a stack of obligation sheets last week that was bundled in a shoe box. They continue to work with each town, city and village and also county departments to ensure that the proper forms are filed to claim reimbursement. Steve noted that the County B house has been torn down. The Public Property Committee will be meeting with the Friends of the Platte at their next meeting to determine the level of interest in developing and sustaining the site as a park/canoe launch. The Hazard Mitigation Planning Grant Application has received preliminary approval by Wisconsin Emergency Management and has been forwarded to FEMA for review. If approved, the grant money will be used to update the county's all-hazard mitigation plan. Plan updates are required every five years to remain in compliance. It was asked by a committee member that when sending out the agenda and minutes Emergency Government should be printed or stamped somewhere on the envelope. Steve noted that they ran out of letterhead envelopes last week but will have more printed. Under New Business, Steve passed out a Contract for Administrative Services for the CDBG-EAP Grant. It was motioned by Pat and seconded by Vincent to approve the contract. Motion carried. Pat Schroeder stated he had received calls about a recent event and inquired about Emergency Government’s call-out policy. Steve stated that they do not have an emergency vehicle policy. The committee instructed Steve to work with Sheriff Govier to develop a policy for emergency vehicles. Under Grants, the FEMA Assistant to Firefighters Grant guidance is still not out yet. Some information about the program is starting to trickle down though. It sounds like there will be some major changes in the way application narratives are written. There are no grants at this time. It was motioned by Steve and seconded by Pat to pay the bills. Motion Carried. It was motioned by Bob and seconded by Lester to adjourn to July 11, 2011. Motion carried.
