HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 2011 EMGRANT COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER Lancaster WI 53818 May 9, 2011 The Grant County Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee was called to order May 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman John Patcle. The following members and personnel were present: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT/DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Larry Wolf, Pat Schroeder, Steve Adrian, Vincent Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen and Robert Scallon GUESTS: Steve Braun, Emergency Government, Sheriff Keith Govier, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Deputy Jack Johnson, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Grant County Coroner Ron Sturmer and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meeting was called to order by Chairman John Patcle. Steve Braun verified the agenda has been posted by the County Clerk at the Administration Building and the Courthouse. Steve also posted the agenda on the Grant County website. Pat, second by Lester, motioned to approve the agenda as mailed. The minutes were approved in motions by Larry and second by Vincent. All above motions carried. The Grant County Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee meeting was recessed while the Law Enforcement Committee meeting took place. The Emergency Management Committee Meeting was called back to order. The Monthly Director’s Report was given by Steve Braun. Steve introduced the FEMA Public Assistance Staff who have been working in Grant County for the past seven weeks. They have finished their work for Grant County and will be going to Green County today. The committee thanked them for all the work they have done for Grant County. Under Old Business Steve discussed the Mississippi River Flooding, noting that there were relatively few problems. G rant County's sand bag inventory is presently about 90,000. Under New Business, Steve received a letter from the Village of Potosi regarding a request for Grant County to fund a study of flood control structures that were installed many decades ago to protect the village and have gone into disrepair . A recommendation was made by Steve that the county is not financially responsible for this issue, but could certainly assist the village with writing grants to address the problem when opportunities surface. It was motioned by Steve Adrian and seconded by Larry to follow the code of conduct, and to reduce the Emergency Management/Disaster Services Committee to 5 members and bring it to the full County Board. Motion carried. There are no grants at this time. There is no Public Forum at this time. Motion to approve bills by Steve, second by Bob. Motion Carried. Motion by Vince and seconded by Lester to go into closed session for the purpose of the annual evaluation of the Emergency Management Director position. Motion Carried. Motion by Larry, second by Bob, to return to open session. Motion by Steve, second by Lester to adjourn the meeting.
