The following members and personnel were present: EMERGENCY GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: Pat Schroeder, Vincent Loeffelholz, John Patcle, John Beinborn, Lester Jantzen, and Bob Scallon. GUESTS: Steve Braun, Emergency Government; Coroner Ron Sturmer, and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary. Steve Braun verified the agenda had been posted at the County Clerk’s office and the County Website. John B. second by Vincent approved the agenda. Bob second by Lester approved the minutes from the previous meeting. All above motions carried. There are no Public Comments to discuss at this time. Under Old Business, the department has been working with Vandewalle and Associates to make the changes to the Hazard Mitigation Plan that were requested by Wisconsin Emergency Management for approval. The plan will be re-submitted to WEM by the end of the year. Once WEM approves the plan, it will be forwarded to FEMA for reveiw, and eventually presented to the county board and adopted. Steve reported that the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Awards are starting, and he hopes to have some announcements regarding that program for the next meeting. The simulcast paging replacement process is going well. New antennas are being placed on the towers and this has already made a big improvement on signals. New transmitters will be installed next and the process should be done around the end of the year. Steve gave an update on the radio narrow banding. All law enforcement radio equipment has been completed. Technicians continue to re-program fire and EMS equipment, but with more than 1,000 radios in use in the county, it is taking longer than expected. Under New Business, Steve announced a Mutual Aid Workshop that will be held for fire/ems departments regarding the MABAS system. There are no bills to approve this month. Steve will bring them to the next meeting . Steve was asked by the committee to discuss some issues with a recent fatality accident. It was noted that there were a number of bystanders that appeared on scene which is unusual for a car accident. Steve noted that there were unique circumstances with this accident, and the this is something that hasn't really been an issue in the past. The Sheriff's Department did a good job in keeping bystanders away from the scene, but the heavy traffic on the road was a problem for ambulances and other emergency vehicles getting to and from the scene. It was motioned by Vince and second by Bob to adjourn to January 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Motion carried. Respectfully Submitted, Steve Braun Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary
