Steve Braun verified the agenda has been posted by the County Clerk at the Administration Building, Courthouse, and also on the county Website. Vince, second by Larry, motioned to approve the agenda as mailed. The minutes were approved with a correction in a motion by Larry and second by Lester. All above motions carried. The Monthly Director’s Report was given by Steve Braun. Under Old Business Steve updated the group on activities in our office over the month. We have been working on paperwork for the State and FEMA. The Beetown Township project on Stabtown Road was green-lighted but must be completed by May 30. We have been working with the township to get this project going as it is a very tight deadline. Ron Kind's office helped out by putting some pressure on to pass this project throu gh. . There is also an outstanding project in Beetown Township on Porter Bridge Rd. The township wanted mitigation money to upgrade the rip-wrap along the road. This was denied with the explanation that there was no rip -wrap there prior to the event, so FEMA will only will pay to put the bank back to “pre-disaster condition.” Steve reported that our Public Assistance Officer at Wisconsin Emergency Management, Joe Heinrich, has taken another job and with him goes the knowledge of where we are with our outstanding FEMA projects. We faced a similar situation a little over a year ago when the prior Public Assistance Officer left. Tornado Awareness Week is the week of April 16 with the state-wide drill on the 19th. We will be sounding/testing tornado sirens on that day. We will be notifying schools, hospitals and nursing homes to participate and practice their emergency plans. In conjunction we are hosting two weather spotter classes. The dates are March 22 at Boscobel and Platteville on April 23. Both begin at 6:30 and Todd Shea will be the presenter. The Mitigation Plan process continues. We have held three of the four meetings and they have been fairly well attended. The draft is in process and the GIS information is being collected. Steve briefly discussed the status of the statewide HAZMAT Team realignment, in which Grant County has been identified for a Level 3 Hazardous materials response team. He is working with state officials to determine equipment needs and sustainment costs to help for mulate a proposal. Under New Business, Steve gave a brief overview of the Annual report. He reminded the committee that much of what we do is for the State’s “Plan of Work.” We have a minimum number of things we must accomplish each year to continue receiving state funding which supports our program. The EM office is funded more than 50% by state and federal funding . Grants: No grants are being considered at this time. Public Forum: None Motion to approve bills by Vince, second by Robert. Motion Carried. Motion by Larry, second by Lester to adjourn the meeting until April 09, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center.
