The following members and personnel were present: EMERGENCY DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: John Patcle, Lester Jantzen, Bob Scallon, Pat Schroeder, Mike Lieurance and Gary Ranum. Guests: Steve Braun, Emergency Government; Tonya White, Recording Secretary and Kelly Bird, Grant County Sheriff’s Office. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Steve Braun verified the agenda had been posted by Linda Gebhard and it was posted on the county website. John second by Gary approved the agenda. Gary second by Mike approved the minutes. Pat second by Mike approved the bills. All above motions carried. Public Comments: None Director’s Monthly Report: Steve passed around photos of the Civil War Reenactment from last weekend. The department took equipment such as radios, air conditioners and tents there to support the Emergency Medical Volunteer team. There were several reenactors who were overcome by the extreme heat. This is a good way to test our equipment each year. They bring in EMT’s from all over the state to help with this event each year. Steve also passed around photos of the airplane crash drill that was performed at University of Wisconsin Platteville last week. Under Old Business Steve spoke about the commodity flow study. The study is still moving forward. They sat on Highway 151 this past weekend and that should be the last spot. They are still gathering information from the railroads in order to put the study together and should be complete soon. Also under Old Business Steve spoke about the June storms and request for disaster funding for the City of Lancaster and Village of Cassville. The department has been working with both municipalities to process their claims. Both claims should be sent in by the end of the week. Under New Business Steve stated that he does not have a public property request this year. Part of the reason is because we are very fortunate to have grant programs that fund most of our equipment needs. Also under New Business Steve gave an update on the budget for next year. He went through the figures and said that we will not have our state aid amounts until after the budget has passed. It looks like the department budget will have an increase of $4,800 which was primarily for salary and insurance increases. The executive committee is discussing some insurance changes that may bring that figure down some. Under vehicle replacement plan Steve noted that he does not have a request at this time but wanted to discuss the possibility that in the future we will need to replace the Suburban. The Suburban is a 2003 and it is showing some rust and age. Carryover funds that were set aside for vehicle replacement were re-allocated by the finance committee some time ago without a clear plan for how future replacement would be handled. When the time comes, replacing the vehicle may have to be a public property request but Steve will do what he can to try and get a truck through the surplus but now that they closed the store in Waunakee it will be a bit more difficult because it will all be done online. Some equipment will be taken to the auction in Mount Horeb in the next few months. Gary stated that he would like to have discussion next month on why we have separate committees for Emergency Management and Law Enforcement. Steve said he'd put it on the September agenda. It was motioned by John and second by Mike to adjourn to September 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Tonya White, Recording Secretary
