Director’s Monthly Report: None
Under Old Business Steve spoke about the June Storms and the request for State Disaster Fund Assistance. WEM is
currently looking at applications that were sent in before Cassville and Lancaster. We are hoping that those
communities will hear something from WEM within the next month.
Also under Old Business Steve talked about the 2015 AFG Grant Period. The application process opened last Monday
and is due January 15, 2016. Our office has about 40 applications in progress including several regional grant
applications.
One of the regional grant applications we are partnering with the DNR for wildland gear for those departments that are
in the DNR protected area. That grant will be sponsored by Wauzeka Fire Department. We are also doing another
wildland grant for those departments who are outside of the DNR protection area. That grant will be sponsored by
Platteville Fire Department. We will also be applying for mobile and portable radios for fire and ems departments in the
county. That grant will be sponsored by Cassville Fire Department. We will also be doing a regional grant for CPR
machines for EMS departments in the county.
Also under Old Business Steve talked about the grant that we will be applying for to monitor the five radio tower sites.
The proposed cost will be about $64,550 with a 10% match which would be $6,500. We have not seen a cost estimate
for the price of the generator. Steve is not sure if the Queen B tower site will be eligible for the generator grant. He has
to do some checking on it. Steve believes the cost for the monitoring system and generator would be around $95,000
with a match of $9,500.
