ECONOMIC, TOURISM AND RESOURCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
AUGUST 17, 2010
The Economic, Tourism and Resource Committee met on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 4:45 p.m. in Room
201, on second floor of the Administration Building in Lancaster, WI.
Members present: John Beinborn, Vern Lewison and Grant Loy. Bryan Wood, Comm. Resource
Development Interim Agent and Ron Brisbois, Economic Development was also present. Carol Beals had
informed Chair John Beinborn that she may be late for the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Chair John Beinborn. Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, moved
that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried.
Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
John Beinborn, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion carried.
Xolve: Ron Brisbois, Economic Development Director, asked the committee for their approval for a
$50,000 loan for Xolve, formerly known as Graphene Solution. This loan will allow Xolve to upgrade
their operations in Platteville by adding new equipment that will produce larger volumes of grapheme.
The larger volumes are needed as various industries want to test the grapheme in their R & D
Departments to see how the product can be incorporated into their products, and to allow the company
to accommodate the larger volumes needed for sales. The rate would be at 3% for 7 years to employee
8 new full time jobs, starting salaries between $30,000 - $60,000. Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy,
made a motion to approve the Revolving Loan request and bring it before the full county board. Motion
carried.
K & B Autobody: Tabled at this time.
Bryan Wood, Interim Comm. Resource Development Agent, Extension Office, last day will be in
September, his interim period is up. Todd Johnson was hired to take the position over on September 13,
2010. Bryan informed the committee that he has enjoyed working in Grant County and is in hopes of
getting a job within a 200 miles radius of Lancaster.
John Beinborn commended Bryan on a job well done for Grant County, and the committee has enjoyed
working with Bryan and wishes him the best in the future.
Adjournment: Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to adjourn the meeting pursuant
to the call of the chair for the next meeting time. Motion carried.
