The Economic, Resource and Tourism Committee met on August 30, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in Room
266 on Second Floor of the Administration Building pursuant to the last meeting of July 19,
2011.
Members present: John Beinborn, Vince Loeffelholz, Vern Lewison, Carol Beals and Grant
Loy. Ron Brisbois, Economic Development and Todd Johnson, Extension Comm. Resource
Agent was present also.
The meeting was called to order by Chair John Beinborn. The County Clerk verified that the
meeting was in compliance with the open meeting laws, published in the Herald Independent and
posted in two places.
Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion approve the agenda. Motion
carried.
Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, made a motion to approve the minutes of July 19,
2011. Motion carried.
Revolving Loan: Ron Brisbois, Economic Development, presented the Revolving Loan
Application for Les Mack in the amount of $100,000, rate 3%, term for 7 years. Collateral 1st
mortgage on property and personal guarantee from Les Mack. The hope is to retain 28 jobs. Les
Mack has previously built a GM and Ford operation which has required a lot a cash equity. Les
is now requesting gap funding to help finance the Chrysler dealership. The total project will be
approximately $600,000. Ron is asking the approval from the Economic Committee at this time,
he hopes to bring this Revolving Loan before the full county board in September or October.
Grant Loy, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to recommend that this loan come before
the full county board. Motion carried.
Belmont to Platteville Trail: Angie Wright, Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and
Development, was present to give the committee the information about the status of the
unfinished portion of the bike trail from Belmont to Platteville. This grant was approved seven
years ago to construct the bike trail. The portion between Belmont and Platteville has not been
completed at this time and DNR would like to move forward on this grant. Vern Lewison,
seconded by Carol Beals made a motion to recommend that the Memorandum of Agreement
between Grant County, Lafayette County and the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources concerning a portion of the Pecatonica Trail be brought before the full county board
for passage contingent on the determination of the Grant County Corporation Counsel. Motion
carried.
Old and New Business: None to discuss.
Adjournment: Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to adjourn the meeting
pursuant to the call of the chair. Motion carried.
