HomeMy WebLinkAboutEconomic, Tourism, Resource Feb 15, 2011Economic, Tourism & Resource Committee February 15, 2011 The Economic, Tourism & Resource committee met on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. in the South Room of the Youth and Ag Building at the Grant County Fair Grounds, Lancaster, WI pursuant to the adjournment of the January 18, 2011 meeting. Members present: John Beinborn, Carol Beals, Vince Loeffelholz, Vern Lewison, Vince Loeffelholz and Grant Loy. Todd Johnson, Comm. Resource Development Agent and Ron Brisbois, Economic Development and John Patcle were also present. The meeting was called to order by Chair John Beinborn. Grant Loy, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried. Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Carol Beals, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion carried. Revolving Loan: Ron Brisbois, Economic Development Director, presented a revolving load application from Nemitz Family Chiropractor. A new Chiropractic Office near Platteville, WI, for a RLF loan $20,000 at 3% for a 5 year term. This office will create jobs for 2 full time employees. The terms will include a personal guarantee and lien on the equipment. Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to recommend that the RLF Loan for the Nemitz Family Chiropractor come before the Grant County Board of Supervisors for their approval. Motion carried. GCEDC Request for Funds: No action at this time. To be brought back before the committee in March. CGI Update: Todd Johnson, Comm. Resource Development Agent will be making the appropriate changes/addition for the company to go forward in the web site project for Grant County. The committee agreed that the promotion of all groups and youth groups such as 4H would be very good in the promotion for Grant County. Grant Applications: The grant applications were discussed, there were four applications that needed to submit summaries and did so at the request of the committee. The Platteville Chamber of Commerce resolved the financial concerns of the committee, all previously approved grants were closed and question were satisfied. There were five grant applications that the committee needs to make the final decision for as follows: Driftless Film Festival: requested $2500.00, amount awarded by the committee was $1500.00. Carol Beals, seconded by John Beinborn, made a motion to approve this application. Motion carried. Fennimore Doll Museum: requested $1600.00, amount awarded by the committee was $1600.00. Carol Beals, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to approve this application. Motion carried. Grant County Historical Society: requested $1,550.00, amount awarded by the committee was $1,550.00. Grant Loy, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to approve this application. Motion carried. Grant County Tourism: requested $2,500.00, amount awarded by the committee was $$1,800.00. Carol Beals, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to approve this application. Motion carried. Platteville Chamber of Commerce: requested $2,500.00. John Beinborn, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to deny this grant request application. Motion carried. Old/New Business: None. Adjournment: Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Carol Beals made a motion to adjourn the meeting to the call of the chair. Motion carried.
