July 30th, 2013@ 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Room 266 of the Administration Building, Lancaster, WI
Committee Members Present: John B., Carol B., Grant L., and Vern L.
Also Present: Alan Lorenz, Ruth Ann Summers, Linda Parrish, Amy Bell Kwallek, Cheryl Schmieder, David Timmerman, Ron Brisbois, and Todd
Johnson.
Actions Taken:
1. John B. called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM.
2. Todd J. verified that the meeting was posted properly.
3. Motion to eliminate items 4 & 6 of the agenda by Grant L.
a. Motion seconded by Vern L.
b. Motion passed.
4. Presentation by Ron Brisbois regarding the status of the regional revolving loan program. No action taken.
5. Public comment from Alan Lorenz, Ruth Ann Summers, Linda Parrish, Amy Bell Kwallek, and Cheryl Schmieder regarding tourism
grant applications.
6. The Economic, Tourism & Resource Committee reviewed 2013B grant applications. After discussion, the following actions were
taken.
a. Committee member Carol B. motioned to award the following applicants:
$1,500 to the Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce for the development of a “Tourism & Relocation Guide”.
$2,000 to the WIMPC for “Intrinsic Values of the Wisconsin Great River Road-Grant County”.
$740 to the Grant County Historical Society for developing a “Vietnam War Veterans Exhibit”.
$2,500 to the Grant County Tourism Council for the development of a “Two-Page Spread in the Fall Galennian Visitor
Guide, Birding Guide, and Photo Contest”.
$1,000 to the Jamison Museum Association for conducting its “16th Annual Historic Re-enactment”.
$1,250 to the Friends of Platteville Municipal Auditorium to host a “Professional Play Production by Robert Lynn”.
b. Motion seconded by Vern L.
c. Motion passed. (Grant L. abstained.)
d. Committee member Carol B. motioned to allow the remaining $220 of the 2013B grant cycle to carry over into the 2014A
grant cycle.
e. Motion seconded by John B.
f. Motion passed. (Grant L. abstained.)
7. Todd J. updated committee members on work being done with local tourism organizations. No action taken.
8. Motion to adjourn by Committee Member Carol B.
a. Motion seconded by Committee Member Grant L.
b. Motion passed at 5:35 PM.
