July 30, 2014 @ 2:00 PM to 4:40 PM, Room 266 of the Administration Building, Lancaster, WI
Committee Members Present: John B., Carol B., Dan T., and Grant L.
Committee Members Absent: Robert S. was excused from the meeting.
Also Present: Todd Johnson, Ken Leifheit, Maria Leifheit, Amy Bell Kwallek, Brian Stuart, Randy
Peterson, Robert Keeney, and Tom Vondrum.
Actions Taken:
1. Meeting was called to order by John B. at 2:00 PM.
2. Open Meeting Law Certified by Todd J. (agenda was posted in 3 locations).
3. Motioned to approve the agenda by Dan T.
a. Motioned seconded by Grant L.

4. Motioned to approve the minutes by Grant L.
a. Motioned seconded by Dan T.
b. Motioned passed.
5. Presentation by Randy Peterson to request an extension to use tourism grant monies next
spring for the construction of a pedestrian trial due to poor weather conditions. Motion
by John B. to deny Platteville Human Powered Trails an extension to use $1,500 awarded
from the 2014A grant cycle and to have those monies reallocated to the 2014B grant
cycle.

6. Motion by Dan T. to deny Friends of the Platte River an extension to use $2,500 awarded
from the 2014A grant cycle and to have those monies reallocated to the 2014B grant
cycle.

7. Presentations by Ken Leifheit, Maria Leifheit, Amy Bell Kwallek, Brian Stuart, and Tom
Vondrum.
8. The Economic, Tourism & Resource Committee reviewed 2014B grant applications. After
discussion, Dan T. motioned to award the following applicants:
$500 to the Friends of Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum
$1,750 to the Grant County Tourism Council (with clarification on usage rights
and ownership rights of the photos)
$1,000 to the Jamison Museum Association
$885 to the Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce
$1,000 to Muskets & Memories
$2,000 to the Wisconsin Badger Camp, Inc.
$1,500 to the Wisconsin Mississippi River Parkway Commission (pending the
submittal of a summary report from the 2013B grant cycle).

9. Discussion about Grant County’s subscription to Hidden Valleys. Todd J. wished to have
clarification as to the roles and responsibilities of both Grant County and Hidden Valleys
and is seeking a copy of a signed agreement. Todd J. raised concerns about UW
Extension’s role and whether or not he is responsible for developing content for the
publication. After discussion, it was agreed that UW Extens ion encourage local
communities and organizations to generate their ow n content for the publication.
10. Review of the 2015 Budget. Motion to approve the 2015 Budget by Dan T.
a. Motioned seconded by Carol B.
b. Motioned passed.
11. Discussion about growing concerns of the Boscobel Boat Landing due to increased use.
No action taken.
12. Motion to adjourn by Dan T.

b. Motioned passed at 4:40 PM.
