June 15, 2010
Park Committee of Grant County Board of Supervisors met on June 15, 2010 in room 143 of
Administration building at 5:00 p.m.
Ivan Farness called meeting to order. Don Splinter, 2nd by Bob Scallon made a motion that the meeting
was in compliance with open meeting law. Motion carried.
Board members present: Ivan Farness, Bob Scallon, Don Splinter, Grant Loy and John Patcle. Absent,
Vern Lewison. Also present were advisors William Biefer and Alan Jansen.
Don Splinter, 2nd by Grant Loy to approve the agenda, motion carried.
Topics of discussion:
Wyalusing landing The boat ramp is in place, dock will be installed this week, rock fill will be completed,
all work will be completed on schedule.
O’Leary’s landing Attention to floating dock, after review of information presented about pouring
concrete to stabilize the three (3) guide poles and at the recommendation of Dave Lambert’s study of
the situation; pile driving anchors into bedrock may be a better resolve of the problem.
A motion was made by Don Splinter, 2nd by Ivan Farness to request engineering students at UW-
Platteville to develop an advisory plan to support the action needed to correct the current pole
instability. Motion carried.
Payment Cost of Dumpsters @ O’Leary’s Landing A motion by Ivan Farness, 2nd by Grant Loy that a letter
by Corporation Counsel should be forwarded to Attorney Dave Leifker, representing Dubuque
Conservation Society, requesting consideration for a fair share of whole season and not for just 2
months. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn made by Don Splinter, 2nd by Ivan Farness. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at
5:30 p.m.
