Boscobel Boat Landing: Steven Wetter, Mayor of the City of Boscobel, introduces the UW Platteville Engineering LLC., students to present a power point presentation of a projected project that they designed for the Floyd Von Haden Boat Landing in Boscobel. The presenters were seniors in the Engineering Program at the UW Platteville College, Jon Olinger, Josh Fetting and Zach Role. The students designed 4 alternative plans ranging in the costs of $267,000.00 to $405,000.00. The project would consist of dredging some of the silt deposited by the current on the Wisconsin River and making a better landing for canoes to load and unload and more parking. Scott Tueber, owner of WI River Outings, canoe rentals, was present to give his opinions on how the boat landing could best utilized for boats and canoes. Mayor Wetter also gave his opinions on how this project could be handled for the good of the City and County. Other issues discussed for the Boscobel Boat Landing were better signage for the parking lot, giving better directions for parking the vehicles with trailers and canoe loading and unloading. The old hand water pump located on the property is a concern for health reasons. Randy Hamann and Richard Wilkinson, River Access workers were instructed to leave the handle off at this time until a better solution can be put into play. Wyalusing Boat Landing: The committee studied a map of the new boat landing that had been received by Larry Austin Surveyor Company. The signs and all other work that needs to be done on the parking lot, black topping and parking lines painted; will have to be on hold because of the high water conditions at this time. Alan Orr has been contracted to install the docks after the water recedes. Bill Biefer is in the process of delivering the parking permits to the vendors who will be distributing them to the public in that area. Glen Haven Boat Landing: Citizens from Glen Haven would like to donate a barbeque pit to replace the damaged one that was located at the Boat Landing. Bob Scallon, seconded by Grant Loy, made a motion to accept their donation. Motion carried. O’Leary Boat Landing: The dock broke loose in the high water. It was retrieved by the Grant County Sheriff Department with their recue boat. The poles for the dock will need to be secured after the water goes down, at this time, the dock can swing around and hit an existing light pole, which could be a potentially dangerous situation. The committee extended their gratitude to the Grant County Sheriff Department for their assistance in this matter. Signage for “No Dumping” at this boat landing was discussed. There is a large problem with the general public using this dumpster for their private use. There are already signs in place, committee made no other determinations at this time. At the present time, the County pays for half of the cost of the dumpster, the Township pays the other half. Tour Date: The date to tour the boat landings was put on hold for now; hopefully the water will be down in late June, early August. The committee will set the date at that time. Adjournment: Vern Lewison, seconded by Robert Scallon, made a motion to adjourn the meeting pursuant to the call of the chair. Motion carried.
