Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy made a motion to approve the minutes of September 20, 2011 and October 4, 2011. Motion carried. O’Leary Boat Landing: A Grant for the O’Leary Boat Landing that had been applied for in 2009 by Paul Thares, Extension Office Agent is coming due once again. The question was if the committee wanted to renew the grant or do nothing with the landing and let the money go. The grant is a 50% match with DNR, the county would spend $3,218.00 and DNR will match the amount. To date nothing has been done at the boat landing. The dock is not totally secure, it needs to be anchored better. The problem being there are no structure close enough to cable it too. The bridge project will not take place in the near future. It was discussed to submerge 6 foot cement block in the water around the dock to anchor to or pour pilings with points on them to secure a cable too. The cost is a factor. It was decided to have Todd Johnson renew the loan at this time for another year. Todd would talk with IIW Engineering in Dubuque to request the cost of their services to design a structure to secure the dock to by using the blocks or pilings. It was also discussed if this could be a project for the UW Platteville Students to design and plan. Todd Johnson and Dave Lambert will do the research for this project with the input of the River Access Workers, Randy Hamann and Richard Wilkinson. Wyalusing Boat Landing: The project is coming along. Parking lot is surfaced, some clean up needs to be done. Docks were never installed because of the high water. Deposit boxes, signage and light poles will have to be installed yet. The committee would like Randy Hamann to follow up on the light poles and Todd and Dave Lambert will follow up with Rule Construction on the deposit box and signage. Todd Johnson has submitted the second installment for the grant reimbursement, he will check to see how much of the financing is left to work with. Date to Start-date: The committee agreed to call the River Access workers back at the end of April with respect to the spring thaw; possible around April 22, 2012. Adjournment: Don Splinter, seconded by Vern Lewison, made a motion to adjourn the meeting to the call of the Chair. Motion carried.
