GRANT COUNTY SANITATION & ZONING
April 26, 2012 Meeting
The County Planning & Zoning & Sanitation meeting was called to order on April 26, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. by Larry Wolf
County Board Chairman in the Grant County Board room of the Administration Building, 111 S. Jefferson St, Lancaster.
Zoning & Sanitation Board members present Lester Jantzen, Bob Keeney, Dwight Nelson, Grant Loy, Dale Hood and
Roger Guthrie.
Larry Wolf opens for nomination from the floor for Chairman, Vice-Chair and Secretary.
Lester Jantzen nominated himself for Chairman, seconded by Dale Hood. Motion was made by Dwight Nelson to close
the nomination and make a unanimous vote in favor of Lester Jantzen as Chairman, seconded by Roger Guthrie. Motion
carried.
Roger Guthrie nominated Bob Keeney for Vice-Chairman, seconded by Dwight Nelson. Motion was made by Dwight
Nelson to close the nomination and make a unanimous vote in favor of Bob Kenney as Vice-Chair, seconded by Roger
Guthrie. Motion carried.
Bob Keeney nominated Dwight Nelson, seconded by Grant Loy. Motion was made by Grant Loy to close the nomination
and make a unanimous vote in favor of Dwight Nelson as Secretary, seconded by Dale Hood. Motion carried.
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the Amended Agenda, seconded Dwight Nelson. Motion carried.
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the March 15, 2012 minutes, seconded by Grant Loy. Motion carried.

Comprehensive Map Changes:
Todd Loeffelholz-Potosi Township 24.73 ac.
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the Comprehensive Map Change subject the approval from the Township,
seconded by Dwight Nelson. Motion carried.
Mark Flogel-Platteville Township, 21.66 ac.
Dale Hood spoke that the area around is already houses. Terry said that this would make the Township and County map
consistent.
Dale Hood made a motion to table until the Platteville can make a discussion on this property, seconded by Dwight
Nelson. Motion carried.
John Wubben-Jamestown Township-5.29ac.
Faber Runde from the Township called and this was going to be discussed at there May 10th meeting.
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve subject the approval from Jamestown Township, seconded by Grant Loy. Motion
carried.
James & Nancy Wiederholt-Paris Township-16.51ac.
The Township found a error on this parcel to A-2 and the owner wanted this to changed back to Exclusive Ag. The
township was in favor.
Dwight Nelson made a motion to approve the Comprehensive Map Change, seconded by Bob Keeney. Motion carried.
Conditional Use Permits:
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permit for Marlin Carl in Liberty Township for a Shale
quarry for 5 yrs, seconded by Grant Loy. Motion carried.
Pete & Gail Langmeier for 2.3 ac in Millville Township for a single family home.
Mrs. Quest who is buying the property spoke that this would be for a new home, and was a relative to Langmeier.
Vince Lease a neighbor who was not in favor spoke that he runs a saw mill, and shots guns and the noise could be a
problem in the future from the neighbor because of the noise. Mrs. Quest who live in the area stated that she can already
here the noise and wasn’t a problem.
Bob Keeney wanted to know if there was any other building site on this property. Terry spoke that this was a farm and
only the farm stead was there.
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permit for Pete & Gail Langmeier, seconded by Dwight
Nelson. Motion carried. Roger Guthrie abstained because this was his brother-in-law.
Old Order Amish Church for 3ac for a Cemetery-Mt Hope Township.
The Township denied this at there April 12, 2012 meeting.
Amos Stoltzfus spoke and said that they would abide by the rule from the Township. That they talk to a Funeral director
and they said that you do not need a concrete vault. Amos Stoltzfus said that the Amish community would keep up the
cemetery. Mr. Stoltzfus said that they went to the township in 2007 and talk with the township about cemetery in the
future. After that the Township made an ordinance on that there would not be any new cemetery in the township.
After more discussion from the board members, Grant Loy made a motion to approve the 3ac. Cemetery in Mt Hope
Township, seconded by Dwight Nelson. Vote 5 yes – 1 no. Motion carried.

Sanitary Permit Summary:
Dwight Nelson made a motion to approve the Sanitary Permit Summary, seconded by Bob Keeney. Motion carried.
Outstanding Order/Compliance:
Bob Keeney made a motion to approve the Outstanding Order, seconded by Roger Guthrie. Motion carried.
Bills & Vouchers:
Dwight Nelson made a motion to approve the Bills & Vouchers, seconded by Dale Hood. Motion carried.
Dwight Nelson made a motion to adjourn the meeting until May 17, at 9:00 a.m., seconded by Dale Hood. Motion
carried.
