JULY 12, 2010
The Public Property/Technology Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met in the Grant
County Administration Building, Lancaster, WI Room 266, Wednesday,July 12, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
pursuant to the adjournment of the June 23, 2010 meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Larry Wolf, John Patcle, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved
that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried.
The following committee members were present: Larry Wolf, Don Splinter, Vern Lewison, Lester
Jantzen, and John Patcle, County Board Chair. Dwight Nelson was excused but a quorum was present.
Lester Jantzen, seconded by Don Splinter made a motion to approve the agenda with the following
additions. Add Line 8 of Focus on Energy invitation to Public Property/Technology meeting on July 28,
2010 of Department Heads/Maintenance Workers/Chair Persons. Line 7 of request to use Courthouse
Lawn had been added prior to meeting. Motion carried.
Information Technology Technician Position: Vern Lewison, seconded by Don Splinter, made a motion
to approve the hiring of a new person to fill the vacant position of Information Technology Technician.
Some discussion followed regarding a couple departments may have funds available to help hire an
extra IT LTE position. To be further discussed at a later time. Motion carried.
Don Splinter, seconded by Lester Jantzen, made a motion that the following people would be present at
the interviews: Joyce Roling, Personnel Director, Jeff Anderson, IT Department Head, John Patcle,
County Board Chair, and Larry Wolf, Public Property/Technology Chair. If other committee members
would like to be present to sit in on the interviews, the committee member will not receive per diem for
that attendance. Motion carried.
Springbrook Update: Nancy Scott, Finance Director, and Jeff Anderson, IT Department Head, signed the
papers and sent the down payment for the new system. March 2011 is the date that is targeted to go
live. Trainings will begin. The County can rent laptop training computers at a $100.00 per computer per
day to assist in training large amounts of County Employees at one time. All the hardware for the new
system will be installed by Springbrook, Grant County IT Department will assist in the installation of the
software. Jeff Anderson’s department will assist in the Virtual Server and data base with Springbrooks
direction, Nancy Scott, Finance Director will be the Project Leader.
System Warranties: Jeff Anderson, IT Department Head explained to the committee that by not
purchasing warranties on the new computers that are purchased by the County, there could be a
possible savings of approximately $50.00 per desk computer and $465.00 per lap top computer. Vern
Lewison, seconded by Lester Jantzen, made a motion to discontinue purchasing the warranties on the
new computers that the county will be buying, but to keep record the savings that has accrued and in
one year this will be assessed again. If there is not a significant amount that has been saved, the
committee can direct the IT Director to go back to purchasing the warranties again. Motion carried.
Tunes & Pies Request: The Lancaster Association of Churches asked permission to use the Courthouse
Lawn on August 11, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a fund raiser of Tunes and Pies. The proceeds
will go to the Food Pantry, Emergency Gas Money for Lancaster area citizens in need. They will serve pie
made by area Church groups and entertainment will be local talents. Don Splinter, seconded by Vern
Lewison, made a motion to give permission to the LAC to use the Courthouse Lawn for Tunes and Pies.
Motion carried.
Focus on Energy: The committee discussed the Focus on Energy presentation with Jennifer Everhart,
Energy Advisor for the next Public Property/Technology meeting on July 28th, 2010. Memo’s will be
sent to the following department heads, head maintenance workers of the facilities and the appropriate
committee member chair person inviting them to be present at this meeting.

Orchard Manor/52 Building
Ag and Extension
Courthouse and Administration Building
A possible quorum of the County Board of Supervisors may be present; a notice will have to be posted
for the public to note this. This meeting will assist in answering the questions and helping the county to
go forward with the energy savings project for the County in the future.
Adjournment: Lester Jantzen, seconded by Larry Wolf, made a motion to adjourn the meeting pursuant
to the next meeting of July 28, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Motion carried.
