HomeMy WebLinkAbout04 SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD MINUTES 04-03-2024SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD MINUTES April 3, 2024 The Grant County Department of Social Services Board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Don Splinter at 9:00 AM. Roll Call was taken with Bob Scallon, John Beinborn, Gary Ranum, and Adam Day present. Also present Fred Naatz, Director, LeaAnne Smith, Office and Financial Coordinator, Robert Keeney, County Board Chairman. Excused was Diane Nelson, absent Brian Lucey. The meeting was found to be in compliance with the open meeting laws. Adam Day made a motion to approve the order of the agenda, second by Bob Scallon motion carried. Minutes of February 7, 2024 meeting: Adam Day made a motion to approve the minutes; Bob Scallon seconded the motion, the motion carried. Citizen Comments- None FINANCIAL REPORTS: Summary of Vouchers: The Board reviewed the Voucher Accounts. Administrative Report: The DSS Management Report was reviewed. Training Costs October: The Board reviewed the training costs. Gary Ranum made a motion to accept the reports, seconded by John Beinborn. The motion was approved. CORRESPONDENCE: None ADMINISTRATION – GENERAL: Potential change in contracted services audit requirements: Fred stated the state sent out a survey on how many counties have contracts under $500,000. This was based on the difficulty of agencies finding someone to do the audits. Fred stated the state is looking at changing this to where you have to have a half a million dollars of services before they require an audit. Coordinated Services Teams Initiatives Supplemental Funding Grand opportunity: Fred stated we will need an approval for this. There is a grant available for the Coordinated Services Program, up to $10,000. Fred stated we would like to apply for the $10,000 and there is no match. John Beinborn made a motion to apply for the grant, second by Adam Day motion carried. Program Review –Child Protective Services Initial assessment – Diana Arians, Child Protective Services worker presented. Diana explained she is an Initial Assessor and gave an overview on the process when an intake call is received. Diana explained how the determination is made whether or not it is abuse or neglect and the process after that. Directors Report: - Fred stated we received information from Iowa County that the first amendment folks who go into county buildings and video tape in confidential areas. Iowa County did have a team that came into their courthouse. Fred stated DSS has a sign on our front window stating “no video or audio taping is allowed the past front door”. Fred stated the Volunteer Banquet is on April 17th and invitations were sent out to the Social Services Board members. Fred shared the state is going to offer a training for the Adult Protective Services Supervisors to implement a Trauma Informed Care model. ADJOURMENT- At 10:06 AM, John Beinborn made a motion to adjourn until May 6, 2024 at 9:00 AM, which was seconded by Bob Scallon. The motion carried, the meeting was adjourned.
