HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 18 SPC MinutesSTRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 18, 2009 The Strategic Planning Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met in the Grant County UW -Extension Conference Room, Lancaster, WI, on Monday, May 18th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Tony Runde. Larry Wolf, seconded by John Patcle, moved the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried unanimously. The roll was called and a quorum was present. The following committee mem bers were present: Tony Runde, Robert Keeney, Larry Wolf, Lynn Moris, John Patcle, and Steve Adrian along with members of the UW -Extension Committee. UW -Extension Community Resource Development Agent Paul Thares and Personnel Director Joyce Roling attended a portion of the meeting. Larry Wolf, seconded by John Patcle, moved to approve the agenda with the change of moving Strategies to the beginning and deleting Prioritization within Themes. Motion carried unanimously. Steve Adrian, seconded by Robert Keeney, moved to approve the May 18th minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Paul Thares reviewed where the committee left off regarding strategies. The committee created one final strategy. Strategy #5 : Utilize current transportation infrastructure to enhance, market and increase economic development and tourism potential Action: Who: GCEDC, Tourism, Hidden Valley’s, and Parks How/What: Meet with GCEDC and other groups to find out what we can do to help. (It was brought to the attention of the committee that Steve Adrian was not at the May 1, 2009, meeting, therefore can not approve the minutes. Lynn Moris made the motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Robert Keeney, motion carried.) Paul Thares and Joyce Roling left the meeting. The committee continued with the rest of the agenda items. Discussion was held on the construction of a building that would be located east of the Poultry Building at the Grant County Fairgrounds. Plans for the building were designed by UW -Platteville Engineering students using direction from the Ag & Extension Education Committee/Fair Board. Final cost estimate ha s been placed on hold while waiting for reach on funding. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lynn Moris to adjourn. Motion carried.
