Administration Building and Courthouse.
Adoption of Agenda and Minutes: The minutes from the last meeting were motioned by Bob and
second by Nate. Motion carried.
New Business: There was a complaint about the Highway 151 overpass fence. This issue has been
discussed before with the committee. If the driver pulls far enough ahead they can see. The DOT is
making an attempt to move the stop bar up closer to Highway 80/81.
Dave Lambert advised that the driveway issue has been taken care of.
Dave Lambert advised that Shannon Butson sent him an email regarding School Bus Stop Ahead
signs on Highway 151. Dave passed the information onto Joe with the DOT to look into.
The Platteville City Council is looking to install overhead lighting at the intersection of Enterprise
Drive and Highway 80/81. The council would like the turn lanes light up so people can see the turn
lanes for Enterprise Drive. Joe from the DOT advised Howard that they would need a standard
permit and he will work with the city and Alliant Energy to get that done.
Old Business: Dave Lambert talked about the Slow Down signage in Beetown. Luke Yahn also
stated that he sent a few troopers over to the area to patrol.
Citizen Comments or Complaints: There are no citizen complaints to discuss at this time.
Sgt. Bierman reviewed the stats for the last quarter. There have been 5 fatalities in the county so
far this year not counting the one this month. Jeff Haas advised that alcohol and/or drugs were not
a factor in the bicycle fatality that occurred in the City of Platteville.
Transportation Safety Report and Highway Safety Input: Bob Bott from Wisconsin Department of
Transportation spoke about the Seatbelt Grants that will be written in January. If any department is
interested in applying for the grant let him know as soon as possible. The grant will take place the
months of April, May, June, July and August.
Jamie Kreul from Grant County Health Department spoke about distracted driving. She would like
to go into the schools and talk to the guidance counselors or drivers education instructors on how
to teach parents about safe driving for their teens.
ATV/UTV Route Requests: Maureen Van den Bosch, a resident in Castle Rock Township questioned
how the process works for ATV/UTV routes. She is concerned for a proposed route on County Q
near her residence. There are steep ditches on both sides of the roadway and there is quite a bit of
traffic through that area. Dave Lambert explained the process and advised that there are some
routes that are not approved because of visibility and other factors.
Jamestown Township met with Nick Wallor from the DNR and Nick recommended what signage
should go where. After the township erected the signs Nick went back through the area to verify
that the signage was placed properly.
CTH Q from Blue School Road to Homer Road was tabled until the next meeting.(Hickory Grove
Twsp – waiting for there approval on Homer)
CTH N from Cudahy Lane Road to Boice Creek Road needs a state permit to cross at Highway 35.
Nate made a motion second by Bob to table until the next meeting. Motion carried.

Village of Kieler and under Highway 151 to the intersection of CTH H, CTH H Frontage Road from

South Lancaster requested approval for a route on CTH A from North McKinley Street to Grays Mills
Road and CTH N from Pigeon River Road to Curve Road. The Highway Committee has
recommended approval, but tabled until permit gets approved. Dave made a motion second by Jeff
to table these routes until the next meeting. Motion carried.
