There is a great need for housing in Grant County. There is currently a Sober house in Iowa County. The staff cost is not covered by any funding. Transitioning people out of the sober house has become difficult. Finding owners of rental properties who will allow former drug offenders to rent from them is not easy. SWCAP does have some houses that they own in Grant County. There is a chance to do transitional housing with some of these properties. Jim Boebel, Mark Hoehne and Shane Drinkwater left the meeting 1:57 p.m. The next step will be for SWCAP to do an inventory of the housing for sober housing and have a game plan for renovation to report back at the next meeting. There have been a few grants that have come up but the turnaround time has been quick. Megan Wolf left the meeting at 2:15 p.m. It was the consensus of the group that funds need to be allocated in the 2024 budget and establish the needs that are being focused on.
