EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
January 5,6,7,8 2025
Chula Vista Resorts, Wisconsin Dells, WI
Sunday, January 5
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Roger Guthrie, in addition to Chairperson
Guthrie, were Pat Schroeder, Joe Mumm, Kathy Kopp, Bob Keeney, and Amy Olson.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, UW-Extension Office, Youth &
Ag Center, and media by Amy Olson.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Joe Mumm to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Contracts were signed for the 2025 Grant County Fair for the following:
Bungart Motorsports - $8,100
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Joe Mumm to accepted the above contract. Motion
carried.
Discussion on what entertainment we have left to look for at the trade show for both the kids tent
and entertainment tent.
Amy was asked to contact Tricor Insurance and ask about waivers that we have spectators sign
for the back pits. Do they need updated? Who has to sign? Are we good with the current
practice we have?

Monday, January 6
Those present were Pat Schroeder, Roger Guthrie, Kathy Kopp, Joe Mumm, Bob Keeney, and
Amy Olson
Committee board members and I attended workshops and the trade show today to find
entertainment for the fair.
The board met with the WAF Auction Committee to discuss how the auction will run Monday
and Tuesday night. The Grant County Fair Board volunteers their time to help at the auction. I
attended the showcase committee meeting and premium committee meeting.
Discussion was held on having Brew City Wrestlers back for Sunday, August 17 in the
entertainment tent with a show starting at noon. Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Kathy
Kopp to sign the contract tomorrow with Brew City Wrestlers in the amount of $3500. Motion
carried.
Discussion on kids tent entertainment. After discussing we are going with Kid Davie which will
have strolling robots and one magic show daily. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Joe
Mumm to sign a contract with Kid Davie in the amount of $3600 for the 2025 fair. Motion
carried.
Joe Mumm and Kathy Kopp attended the We Are Family session and Kathy shared some ideas
that other fairs do that we may be able to implement.

Tuesday, January 7
Those present were Pat Schroeder, Roger Guthrie, Joe Mumm, Kathy Kopp, Mark Vosberg, Bob
Keeney, and Amy Olson
Committee board members and I attended workshops and the trade show. I attended the
Associated Members meeting.
Meeting was held with Tower Sound on the sound system in the barn. They will come back this
spring and fix the issue.
We met with Badgerland Midways to discuss the 2024 fair and sign a two-year contract with
them for 2025 and 2026. Prices for rides will increase for the next two years so all counties they
provide services for will have the same prices. They will also extend their hours and open on
Friday and Saturday at noon instead of 1pm for us. We have the option to sell advanced daily
passes for the first time this year. They will be good for one day the midway is open and can be
purchased on Badgerland Midways website or in the fair office. This will be discussed further at
our January board meeting.
We met with Badger State Tractor Pullers to discuss a contract for Thursday, August 14. After
discussing we will have them at the fair this year for $18,550 and Kelly will be emailing Amy the
contract to sign. Motioned by Joe Mumm, seconded by Mark Vosberg to have Badger State
Tractor Pullers at the fair for Thursday night’s grandstand event. Motion carried.

Wednesday, January 8
Those present were Roger Guthrie, Joe Mumm, Bob Keeney, and Amy Olson.
Members of the board and I attend the WAF business meeting and attended workshops along with
the fairest of the fair banquet that evening.
We had our District meeting with discussion on the convention. Suggestions were made from our
district on workshops for next year, speakers for next year, and overall issues at Chula Vista.
Our Spring District Meeting is April 3, 2025 at the Chula Vista and encouragement for everyone
to attend was stressed with having Ian Hill back as a speaker.
Next year’s convention will be held January 11-14, 2026.
All concerns and suggestions that were discussed at the district meeting will be brought to the rest
of the Wisconsin Association of Fair’s Board at our next state board meeting February 16 and 17,
2025 at the Chula Vista Resort, which Amy will be attending as the District Director.
Next meeting is Monday, January 27, 2025.
