HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 Minutes-January 16 2025 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING January 16, 2025 The Highway Committee met on Thursday January 16, 2025 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chair Gary Northouse. Other members present were, Lester Jantzen, Diane Nelson, Roger Guthrie and Pat Schroeder. Others present were Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Trenton Wood, and Jason Kieler. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the January agenda. Motion carried without a negative vote. Diane Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to approve the December 19th meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Pat Schroeder, moved to approve the December Accounts Payables and YTD Budget Report. Motion carried without a negative vote. The November Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $115,591.88. As of the end of November, we are over our yearly estimated budgeted amount by $48,802.26. The County Accounts were reviewed as of the end of November. The Office staff has been working on 2024-year end information. State crews have been repairing guardrail from accidents and for general maintenance. The State is keeping the brush cutting to a minimum. The County crews have been cutting brush; they are also repairing guardrail from accidents and hauling chips. The Shop Lead Worker, Supervisors and the Commissioner have determined that we should sell two trailers and a quad to purchase one trailer that would better suit our needs. Travis explained the issues with the bridge located on County Q. It will need restoration this summer. Jon informed the committee that we are still using the Bagley facility for salt and equipment storage. Jon also mentioned that he and Nate are trying to figure out the capacity of the new Highway Shop; with other departments showing interest for storage. Once size is determined, the location can be determined. Jon updated the committee on the employees off for medical reasons. Supervisors have all sections covered.
