HomeMy WebLinkAbout02 Minutes-February 20 2025 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING February 20, 2025 The Highway Committee met on Thursday February 20, 2025 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. Members present were, Patrick Schroeder, Lester Jantzen, Diane Nelson, and Roger Guthrie. Gary Northouse asked to be excused. Others present were Nate Dreckman, Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Trenton Wood, Jason Kieler and Travis Kramer. Tonya White and Wild Wood properties were on zoom. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Pat Schroeder called the February 20th Highway Committee Meeting to order. Lester Jantzen, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the February agenda as printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. Diane Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to approve the January 16th meeting minutes at printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the December Accounts Payables and YTD Budget Report. Motion carried without a negative vote. The December Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $240,073.79. As of the end of December we are over our estimated yearly budgeted amount by $104,731.30 The County Accounts were also reviewed as of December. The State crews have been dealing with the recent snow and ice events. They have also been repairing guardrail from accidents. The County crews have been busy with the winter maintenance, and they have also been cutting brush. The County employees have also been hauling chips for the summer seal coats. The Shop is busy keeping the equipment moving through the recent winter storms. The new Quad Axle is being used with good reviews from the crew. The Shop is looking at selling some equipment to purchase a new trailer. Travis gave an update on the County D Road project, and the County Q bridge deck replacement. Representatives from Origin Design were on hand to answer questions pertaining to the Highway space needs study. Jon and Nate are working on the new Highway Shop capacity and location, with other departments showing interest for storage. Jon brought a purchase offer to the Highway Committee for the Bagley shed. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to not accept the offer and keep using it as we have. Motion carried without negative vote. No Parking signs were requested on CTH “D”, the situation will be looked into and brought back. Rumble strips were requested on CTH “B” and Hwy 61, no action will be taken until the State investigates the situation.
