HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 Minutes May 15 2025 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING May 15, 2025 The Highway Committee met on Thursday May 15, 2025 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. Members present were, Patrick Schroeder, Lester Jantzen, Diane Nelson, and Roger Guthrie. Gary Northouse asked to be excused. Others present were Nate Dreckman, Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Trenton Wood, Jason Kieler, and Travis Kramer. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Pat Schroeder called the May 15th Highway Committee meeting to order. Diane Nelson seconded by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to approve the May 15 agenda. Motion carried without a negative vote. Diane Nelson, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to approve the minutes from the April 17th Highway Committee Meeting. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to approve the April Check Listing report as printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. The March Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $167,812.50, which is $24,246.45 over our estimated monthly budget. As of the end of March we are over our estimated yearly budgeted amount by $59,173.27. The State crews have been working on a Rout and Seal on Hwy 35, and mastic crack patching on Hwy 61. They have also been spraying growth inhibitor on the rights-of-way. The County crews have been coring CTH “D,” and they plan to have it pulverized the week of May 19th. The crews have been working on the CSB Frontage Road and plan to pave it the week of May 19th. They have been doing tube replacements and plan on putting the Wyalusing dock in the week of May 19th. The shop is busy going over the tractors and mowers. They are doing the DOT inspections on the Quads and pickups. Waiting for two trucks to return from Henderson Products with the snow equipment. It was decided the salt shed at the Patch Grove shop will be a Wheeler building. The materials will be ordered from Wheeler Lumber which will cost $265,000; a bid will then be put out for erecting the building. Travis and Jon are working with engineers on the “Foundry Road intersection on County “HH”. CTH “D” received SMA funding of $1,000,000, and will be constructed in 2027. No Parking signs will be installed today on CTH “D”, near Town Hall road and Condry road. The Hwy 81, CTH D intersection sign also will be installed today. Jon has signed a “Letter of Intent,” from the DOT on the Patch Grove salt shed. They will share in the cost of the salt shed. Guys are working on covering the salt piles as directed by the state. Lester Jantzen, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to enter into closed session. Motion carried without negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to return to open session. Motion carried without negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to adjourn to Thursday June 19, 2025, at 9:00 am. Motion Carried without a negative vote.
