June 19, 2025
The Highway Committee met on Thursday June 19, 2025 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the
meeting was also available via Zoom.
Members present were, Gary Northouse, Patrick Schroeder, Lester Jantzen, Diane Nelson, and Roger Guthrie. Others
present were Nate Dreckman, Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Trenton Wood, Jason Kieler,
Travis Kramer, and Garry Pluemer. Grant County Herald was on zoom.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and
on the Grant County web site.
Gary Northouse called the June 19th Highway Committee meeting to order.
Agenda: Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to approve the June 19 agenda after moving the Commissioners
report to the top of the agenda. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Minutes: Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to approve the minutes from the May 15th Highway Committee
Meeting. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Check Listing: Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the May Check Listing report as printed.
Motion carried without a negative vote.
State Requisition: The April Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $156,455.32, which is $39,366.95 over our
estimated monthly budget. As of the end of April we are over our estimated yearly budgeted amount by $98,540.22.
Sale of Bagley Shed: The sale of the Bagley shed was discussed. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Lester Jantzen moved to sell the
Bagley shed to Wild Wood Properties for $3,000 as is. Jon will have attorney Ben Wood draw up a contract. Motion
carried.
Commissioner Report: Jon reviewed the Capital Improvements, Highway Mandated Services and the Hierarchy of the
department with the Committee, and all were discussed. Jon also mentioned there is an issue with the drain field at the FS
shop in Lancaster, and that will be monitored. There was damage at our Platteville salt shed during a hail storm, and
insurance has paid for the damages it sustained.
Travis Kramer explained the materials were ordered from Wheeler for the salt shed at the Patch Grove Shop. An
advertisement will go out for a contractor to assemble.
The State crews have been working on a mastic seal on Hwy 61, spraying weeds and patching. They have also been helping
out with the mowing on the County system.
The County crews have been paving CTH “N,” 6300 ton of hot mix has been put down. The crews have also been doing work
in several townships and getting the County mowing done.
The shop has finished going over all the tractor and mowers for summer. The new trucks are back from Henderson, Inc with
the new snow equipment installed. The new mechanic was introduced to the committee.
Diane Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to adjourn to Thursday July 17, 2025, at 9:00 am. Motion Carried without
a negative vote.
