HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 LECminutes07-14-25GRANT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING GRANT COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES BUILDING Lancaster, WI 53813 July 14, 2025 The Grant County Law Enforcement/Emergency Management Disaster Services Committee Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Vice-Chairman John Beinborn. The following members and personnel were present: LAW ENFORCEMENT/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Rick Sanson, Bob Keeney and Gary Ranum. Adam Day and Kathy Kopp are excused. GUESTS: Sheriff Craig Reukauf; Chief Deputy Travis Klaas; Steve Braun, Emergency Management Director; Nate Dreckman, County Administrator; the Herald Independent; Tonya White, County Clerk and Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary. Kelly Bird verified the agenda had been posted at the County Clerk’s Office, Community Services Building, courthouse and on the county website. Gary Ranum second by Rick Sanson approved the agenda. Rick Sanson second by Bob Keeney approved the minutes from the June 9 meeting with a change noting that Gary Ranum was excused from the meeting. All above motions carried. There is no Public Forum to discuss. Coroner: Coroner Phyllis Fuerstenberg is on vacation. Coroner financials and invoices were reviewed. Bob Keeney second by Gary Ranum made a motion to accept the invoices and financials. Motion carried. Emergency Management: Emergency Management Director’s Report was reviewed. Steve Braun updated the committee on trainings and projects they have been working on. The paging system in Richland County had a major failure. Steve was able to build a temporary paging system. Racom took the paging system that wasn’t working for repair. There is no word on when it will be fixed. There is some flood damage throughout Grant County. Steve provided resources for the clean-up of oil after a boat sunk in Apple Canyon Lake. Gary Ranum second by Rick Sanson made a motion to accept the Director’s Report. Motion carried. Emergency Government invoices and financials were presented. Rick Sanson seconded by Gary Ranum made a motion to accept the Financials and Invoices. Motion carried. Sheriff’s Briefing: Sheriff Craig Reukauf reviewed the monthly activity report. The contracted inmate count continues to be up. The Dubuque Regional Human Society contract went in to effect July 1. The kennel at the Community Services Building to house dogs at large should be done in a couple of weeks. The Sheriff’s Office took ownership of a 2013 Suburban Armored Vehicle with less than 6,000 miles on it. The vehicle was shipped from Fort Collins, Colorado for $1,400.00 and only needed new tires. The Annual Jail Inspection will be on July 17. John Beinborn second by Rick Sanson made a motion to accept the Sheriff’s Report. Motion carried. Sheriff Reukauf received six proposals from consulting firms to conduct the Feasibility Study for the Sheriff’s Office and Platteville Police Department joint 911 Communications Center. It was narrowed down to two consulting firms, Tusa Consulting Services and Matrix Consulting Group. After reviewing both of these firms Sheriff Reukauf would like the committee to approve the selection of Matrix Consulting Group. Gary Ranum second by Rick Sanson approved selecting Matrix Consulting Group and sending it to the Full County Board. Motion carried. Under the Radio Project Update, there are still some issues with the Cassville Tower and its progress. Under Personnel, we are fully staffed for Full-Time Employees. Part-Time Jailers are still needed. Three Full- Time Jailers and one Part-Time Jailer have completed the Jail Academy through Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Under training, a Full-Time Jailer graduated from the Jail Academy held in Sparta through Western Wisconsin Technical college. Under Grants, it was motioned by Bob Keeney and seconded by John Beinborn to apply for a $2,000.00 grant from WE Energies to purchase defibrillators for a couple of squad cars. Motion carried. The Sheriff’s Office Invoices and Financials were presented. Gary Ranum second by Rick Sanson made a motion to accept the invoices. Motion carried. Rick Sanson second by John Beinborn made a motion to accept the financials. Motion carried. It was motioned by Rick Sanson and seconded by Bob Keeney to adjourn to Monday, August 11, 2025 at 9:00am.
