DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING
GRANT COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES BUILDING

November 10, 2025
The Grant County Law Enforcement/Emergency Management Disaster Services Committee Meeting was called
to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Kathy Kopp. The following members and personnel were present:
LAW ENFORCEMENT/EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DISASTER SERVICES COMMITTEE: Rick Sanson, Bob Keeney,
Brian Lucey, Gary Ranum and John Beinborn.
GUESTS: Sheriff Craig Reukauf; Steve Braun, Emergency Management Director; Phyllis Fuerstenberg, Grant
County Coroner; Nate Dreckman, County Administrator; Shane Drinkwater, Director of Information Technology;
Kelly Bird, Recording Secretary.
Kelly Bird verified the agenda had been posted at the County Clerk’s Office, Community Services Building,
courthouse and on the county website. John Beinborn second by Gary Ranum approved the agenda with
Emergency Management going first. Bob Keeney second by Rick Sanson approved the minutes from the
October 13 meeting. All above motions carried.
There is no Public Forum to discuss.
Emergency Government:
Steve Braun gave the Director’s Report. FEMA Applications were denied but will be appealed. Most Townships
will be able to recoup some of the cost for damages through state aid. The Government Shut-Down is causing
some issues with end of year projects. Steve will continue to update the committee on the future of the Hazmat
Team.
The State Interoperability Radio Grant will be brought back next month.
There are no updates for the 2026 Budget.
Emergency Government invoices and financials were presented. Gary Ranum second by John Beinborn made a
motion to accept the financials and invoices. Motion carried.
Coroner:
Coroner Phyllis Fuerstenburg was present with no updates for her department. The Coroner Van needed some
wire repaired that wasn’t under warranty. The sale of the old Coroner Van is moving forward.
There are no updates for the 2026 Budget.
Coroner financials and invoices were reviewed. Rick Sanson second by John Beinborn made a motion to accept
the invoices and financials. Motion carried.
Sheriff’s Briefing:
Sheriff Craig Reukauf reviewed the monthly activity report. The amount of 911 calls received has been down.
The annual Shop With a Cop for Christmas Event will be held on December 9. The two suspicious deaths are still
under investigation.
There are no updates for the 2026 Budget.
Under the Radio Project Update, testing is in progress and going well.
There are no Personnel updates.
There is no training to discuss.
Under Grants, Dispatch was awarded the $60,500.00 for the Dispatch Feasibility Study. The match will be made
by Grant County and Platteville Police Department.
The Sheriff’s Office invoices and financials were presented. John Beinborn second by Rick Sanson made a
motion to accept the invoices and financials. Motion carried.
It was motioned by John Beinborn and seconded by Rick Sanson to adjourn to Monday, December 8, 2025 at
9:00am. Motion carried.
