HomeMy WebLinkAbout02 GrantCoHwyminutes02-05-25GRANT COUNTY QUARTERLY TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING February 11, 2025 Grant County Community Services Building Lancaster, WI 53813 The regular quarterly Grant County Traffic Safety Commission Meeting was called to order by Captain Todd Miller at 1:00 p.m. The following Traffic Safety Commission members and guests were present: Todd Miller--------------------------------------------------------------------------Grant County Sheriff’s Office Craig Reukauf---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grant County Sheriff Justin McLimans----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lancaster PD Todd Horn---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WI DOTS/BOTS Brad Byom------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WI DOT Austin Coppernoll-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SWWRPC Bob Keeney--------------------------------------------------------------------------------County Board Chairman Jon Knautz---------------------------------------------------------------Grant County Highway Commissioner Judy Hazen---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grant County ATV/UTV Confirmation of Open Meeting Law: The agenda was posted in the lobby at the Community Services Building, the Administration Building and on the Grant County website. Adoption of Agenda: The agenda was approved. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved in motions by Justin McLimans and second by Craig Reukauf. Motion carried. New Business: Jon Knautz discussed he need for Advanced Warning Signs at the intersection of Hwy 81 and Cty D. The state is looking to submit an improvement project for this. They will also do a study to place the Advanced Warning Signs on both sides. ATV/UTV Routes: Traffic Safety Grants: Old Business: Jon Knautz discussed the concerns with the Hwy 61/CTH B/Abing Road Intersection. There were two fatalities at this intersection in 2024. There is very good vision at this intersection. The state is looking at placing a round-a-bout here which is a long process. Flashing stop signs would be a temporary solution. Bob Keeney and Judy Hazen presented the Ordinance to Amend the ATV/UTV Ordinance of Grant County, Wisconsin, Relating to Designating Operation of ATVS and UTVS on Portions of State Trunk Highways. It was motioned by Craig Reukauf and seconded by Jon Knautz to approve this and send it to the Full County Board. Motion carried. Citizen Complaints: There are no Citizen Complaints to discuss. Other Business: No Other Business to discuss at this time. The Transportation Safety Report was presented. Austin Coppernoll who is with the Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission was present to explain what services they can provide for mapping.
